Sola Skylights International purchases an iconic natural lighting manufacturer also based in Western Australia. The company "Sunlite Skylights" was over 25 years old and had a reputation for manufacturing high quality and heavy duty skylights. Architects continually specified the product and builders preferred them, because they had used them for many years previous and knew they could be relied upon. The addition of Sunlite Skylights to the product range would give Sola Skylights International significant market share in the Commercial Daylighting Market.
Sola Skylights International now manufactured & distributed 5 different brand name products and it was decided the company did not want a name that lent itself to one particular product. After analyzing what the company was famous for, the name "CALIDAD Industries Pty Ltd" was chosen. Calidad is the Spanish word for Quality, and the company had long prided itself on the quality of its products and also the quality of its service.
Having outgrown their premises again, CALIDAD Industries builds a purpose designed factory & office facility in Enterprise Park, Western Australia. The new facility was the showcase for over 15 years of consistent performance in the industry, and a commitment to company growth. The building featured many of the company's products, providing a live showroom.
CALIDAD Industries purchases another local company, “Olivers Trading”, who were assembling and distributing skylights and ventilation products. This was strategic in increasing the CALIDAD Industries customer base.
Continued research and development leads to the most innovative of the company's products to date, the Sky Tunnel XL2. The tubular daylighting device with extra available light area relative to the tube diameter and extra easy installation. The Sky Tunnel XL2 is an instant success in the UK and Australian Markets and becomes the preferred option for Installers.
Western Australia is gripped by a mining boom and the unemployment rate is at a record low of 2.6%. Wages are spiraling out of control and quality workmanship is proving very hard to find. The decision is made to restructure CALIDAD Industries into two separate companies. One based in Perth is to become a warehousing and distribution company. The other would involve the relocating of the manufacturing facility to an overseas base to allow for continued stability and growth. After careful research and several trips overseas, the owners of the company settled on the Philippines. A new Philippine Corporation was formed by the owners of CALIDAD Industries, with the new company to be known as SG Eco Industries Inc. In June 2008 the entire manufacturing facility, and the owners of CALIDAD Industries moved to the Philippines.
CALIDAD Industries is sold to a local Western Australian Business Entrepreneur, allowing the owners of SG Eco Industries to concentrate 100% on the Philippine Corporation and the manufacturing business.
After more than 20 years of experience in quality manufacturing, the decision is made to apply for ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System & ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management System accreditations. With SG Eco already having significant procedures and policies in place, these accreditations are achieved with relative ease.
Continued expansion of SG Eco Industries necessitates a second facility to be acquired. A dedicated warehouse is built within Philexcel Business Park.
SG Eco Industries builds its own factory within Industrial Estate 5 of the Clark Freeport Zone. With the manufacturing, warehousing and office facilities now in the one building, efficiency significantly improves for the company.
